1. Overview & Operator

Hexshroom (“the game”) is a psychedelic 6-sided rhythm runner game operated by Conley Creative LLC (“we”, “our”, or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how data and information are stored, processed, and transmitted when you access and play Hexshroom across desktop and mobile web browsers.

2. Information Stored & Processed

Browser Storage (localStorage & IndexedDB): By default, your high scores, campaign level progression, unlocked cosmetic skins and themes, spore currency balances, audio volume preferences, and graphics calibration settings are stored locally on your device via standard browser localStorage and IndexedDB.
Firebase Authentication (Optional Account Sign-In): If you choose to sign in to backup or sync your saves (via Google Sign-In or email/password), Firebase Authentication processes your authentication credentials and assigns a unique authenticated user identifier to maintain your cloud profile.
Firebase / Cloud Firestore (Cloud Save & Progression): For authenticated players, game save slot snapshots, progression data, unlocked cosmetics, and encrypted PIN security profiles are synchronized and securely stored in Google Cloud Firestore.
Public Leaderboard Data: When you submit a run to the public Endless or challenge leaderboard, your chosen runner callsign, score, distance reached, platform, and submission timestamp are recorded and publicly displayed on the leaderboard.
Procedural Challenge Links: Viral challenge share links encode procedural seed parameters and targets into URL query parameters without retaining personal information on external servers.

3. Analytics, Advertising & Third-Party Services

Hexshroom integrates trusted third-party service providers for analytics, security, and optional advertising:

Google Analytics for Firebase / GA4: Collects standard gameplay telemetry (such as game boots, level milestones, and virtual currency interactions) and aggregated session metrics to help us optimize game performance and stability.
Vercel Analytics: Collects web traffic, page performance, and deployment telemetry.
Google AdSense & Advertising Networks: Hexshroom may display advertisements (including rewarded video ads for in-game bonuses). Google AdSense and advertising partners utilize advertising cookies, device identifiers, and related ad technologies to serve, frequency-cap, and measure ads.
Firebase App Check & reCAPTCHA Enterprise: Protects backend APIs and database infrastructure from bots, fraud, and abuse by evaluating browser interactions.

These third-party analytics and advertising providers may process device and browser information, approximate geographic location (derived from IP address), IP addresses, cookies or similar digital identifiers, gameplay telemetry, performance telemetry, and advertising interactions where applicable.

Our Data Commitment: Conley Creative LLC does not sell users’ directly identifying account information and does not intentionally send player names or email addresses to gameplay analytics systems.

Acknowledging or viewing this policy does not constitute consent to personalized advertising. Where required by applicable law, advertising consent is managed separately through dedicated consent flows.

4. Data Retention

Local Browser Save Data: Local save data remains on your device until you clear your browser’s cache and site data or use available in-game save management options.
Account & Cloud Data: Account and cloud-save information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Hexshroom and related services.
Operational & Legal Purposes: Data may also be retained where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or operational purposes.

5. Age Appropriateness & Children’s Privacy

Hexshroom is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under the age of 13. Conley Creative LLC does not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes that a child under 13 has provided personal information or created an account, they may contact support@hexshroom.com to request review and deletion.

6. Data Deletion & Privacy Requests

You have the right to request access to or deletion of your eligible account and associated cloud data. If you wish to request deletion of your account, cloud save files, leaderboard entries, or have any privacy-related questions, please contact Conley Creative LLC at support@hexshroom.com.

You can also delete locally stored gameplay data at any time by clearing your browser’s local storage and IndexedDB site data, or by using the save management options within the game settings.

Visual & Motion Triggers

Hexshroom is a fast-paced 3D arcade runner. Hexshroom contains flashing and pulsing visual effects, including spores and platform effects that synchronize with music beats, as well as dynamic visual effects triggered during power-ups such as ShroomStep. Specifically, the game incorporates:

Flashing and pulsing visual effects, including spores and platform effects synchronized to musical tempo
Dynamic platform animations and pulse bursts triggered during power-ups like ShroomStep
Rapid color changes and cycling palette transitions
High-contrast patterns and alternating geometric textures
Rapid tunnel rotation, camera movement, perspective changes, and fast-moving 3D environments

Symptoms to Watch For

A small percentage of individuals may experience seizures, loss of awareness, dizziness, nausea, motion discomfort, altered vision, disorientation, or similar symptoms when exposed to certain visual patterns, flashing lights, or fast camera motions. Even people who have no prior history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition. Potential symptoms include:

Seizures, convulsions, or momentary loss of awareness
Dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, or motion discomfort
Altered vision, visual distortions, or eye twitching
Disorientation, confusion, or impaired balance
Involuntary muscle contractions or tremors

STOP PLAYING IMMEDIATELY if you experience seizures, loss of awareness, dizziness, nausea, motion discomfort, altered vision, disorientation, muscle twitches, or any other physical symptoms. Do not resume playing until you have consulted a qualified medical professional. Seek immediate emergency medical attention if symptoms persist or are severe.

Safety Precautions & Accessibility Settings

Always play in a well-lit environment and maintain a comfortable distance from your screen.
Avoid playing when tired, fatigued, or sleep-deprived. Take regular 10 to 15-minute breaks every hour.
In-Game Accessibility Settings: You can enable Reduce Flashing & Strobe, Reduce Motion, and High Contrast Lane Edge Guides in Settings > Accessibility to soften rapid flashes and adjust visual movement.
Important Health Advisory: Reduced Motion, reduced flashing, and lower visual-effects options may reduce visual intensity or motion discomfort, but they do not eliminate seizure, epilepsy, or health risks for susceptible individuals. No accessibility setting makes Hexshroom medically safe.
